What To Expect At 2020 Tokyo Olympics
There has been a massive focus on innovation for the International Olympic Committee for next summers games.
The biggest thing to expect from the games is all the brand new sports that have been added to the event, being inclusive to more athletes than ever before. Youth-friendly, high-octane sports being added include surfing, climbing and skateboarding. They are trying to re-brand themselves as a city since the 1964 Olympic games while attracting a younger generation. The Olympic Organisers are also wanting to create a more athlete focused games where they feel in a safe and secure environment where they can perform to their fullest potential. With this, drugs testing will be taken more seriously than ever before.

Technological Innovations
Japan is already well known to be a technologically advanced country with their fast paces technological innovations. Olympic organisers are wanting to embrace the country’s cutting edge technology and use them throughout events and the ceremonies. As well as this they want to make the Olympics as interactive at home as possible.
Expect driver-less taxis and robotics helpers with multi-lingual translations as well as high tech data capture technologies, such as VAR in football.

Sustainability Efforts
With global warming at the front of everyone’s mind Tokyo Olympic Organisers want to ensure they are being as eco-friendly as possible throughout the 2 week long event.
Within stadiums and inside the athletes village there will be significantly less plastic and waste. The organisers are outsourcing sustainability agencies to try and find innovative ways to be more eco-friendly from having enough water bottles to having a recyclable waste system for spectators.
